Palm Sunday

  • Northridge United Methodist Church 4610 Derr Road Springfield, OH, 45503 United States (map)

As we approach Holy Week, Palm Sunday marks the beginning of a week that is both joyful and solemn. On April 2, 2023, Northridge United Methodist Church will observe Palm Sunday with a special service that includes the waving of palm branches in remembrance of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

The service will begin with the reading of Psalm 118:1-2, 19-29, which describes the procession of the king into the city. This will be followed by the Gospel reading, taken from Matthew 21:1-11, which recounts Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on a donkey, while crowds of people welcomed him by waving palm branches and laying their coats on the ground.

During the service, Pastor Ken Woode will deliver a message titled "Places and Memories", reflecting on the significance of the places we go and the memories we create along our faith journey. The message will inspire us to reflect on our own spiritual journeys and consider how we can create meaningful memories that honor our faith.

In addition, we will celebrate the holy sacrament of communion, which reminds us of Jesus' sacrifice and the ultimate gift of his love. This will be an opportunity for us to come together as a community and reflect on the importance of this week in the Christian calendar.

Join us on Palm Sunday at Northridge UMC as we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and begin our journey towards the cross and resurrection. All are welcome to attend this special service and experience the joy and solemnity of this holy week.
